Seven Years of Standing Behind Something Bigger Than Business
For seven consecutive years, DTS Advance Logistics has had the privilege of standing behind My Mulan Fantasy Dance Drama, a partnership rooted not in business, but in belief. Belief in what young people are capable of when they're given the stage, the support, and the encouragement to try.
This year, that belief was celebrated once again as part of the 2026 Canada International Youth Dance Festival, held at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre. For one evening, the venue felt less like a theatre and more like a gathering place for an entire community. Performers, families, volunteers, educators, and local leaders filled the seats and the wings alike, all there for the same reason: to celebrate what happens when young people are given the chance to shine. And shine they did.
If you've never seen My Mulan, it's easy to assume it's simply a dance drama, beautifully choreographed, culturally rich, and visually striking. It is all of that, and audiences once again witnessed performances filled with creativity, heritage, and heart. But spend even a little time with the performers and their families, and you quickly realize the real story is happening off-stage, months before opening night.
It's in the early morning rehearsals. The moments of frustration followed by breakthroughs. The quiet discipline it takes for a young performer to show up week after week and keep pushing forward, even when it would be easier to stop. By the time the curtain rises, what audiences see isn't just a performance; it's the visible result of confidence built, responsibility earned, and resilience tested and strengthened over months of dedication and teamwork.
That transformation is exactly why DTS keeps coming back, year after year.
This year, we were honored to have our CEO, Maggie Xu, attend the performance in person to celebrate alongside the cast, instructors, volunteers, and families who made it all possible. Watching the production together as a community, seeing the pride on parents' faces, the relief and joy in performers after their final bow was a genuine highlight of our year. Maggie extended her congratulations to everyone involved, recognizing not just the performance itself, but the months of effort that led up to it.
Moments like these are a reminder of why we do this. Logistics may be the engine that keeps our business moving, but it's partnerships like this one that remind us why that work matters in the first place. Behind every shipment and every deadline, there's a bigger purpose and for us, that purpose includes helping build stronger, more connected communities.
At DTS, we've always believed that supporting young people isn't a side project. It's an investment in the kind of community we want to help build. My Mulan reflects values we hold close as a company: integrity, leadership, responsibility, and a commitment to continuous growth. Watching performers embody those same principles on stage, night after night, season after season, is a powerful reminder that these aren't just words on a page. They're lived, practiced, and passed on to the next generation.
The production also does something special beyond individual growth. It brings people from different backgrounds together around a shared story, encouraging understanding, respect, and connection through the universal language of art and performance. In a world that can often feel divided, there's something quietly powerful about a room full of people, strangers to one another just hours before united in celebrating the same story, the same courage, the same growth.
None of this comes together without an enormous amount of heart and hard work. So to every performer who pushed through nerves and fatigue, every instructor who guided them with patience, every volunteer who gave their time behind the scenes, and every parent who cheered from the sidelines, thank you. Congratulations on another truly outstanding production.
As we close out another successful season, we're already looking forward to what comes next. DTS remains proud to stand behind My Mulan and programs like it, initiatives that use education, culture, and the performing arts to help shape confident, capable young leaders.
Here's to seven years of partnership, and to many more still to come.
